Welcome to the Frugal Southern Mom!
Come here for gardening tips, southern recipes and some daily freebies!
I think I have spring fever. My husband had my garden cleared of all weeds as a Valentine's Day gift! It looks great!
My garden consist of perennials, annuals and herbs. Now I can't wait till all the seed catalogues come in. We have 3 acres, part of it is my flower garden, part will be veggies and a great deal of it is grass!
Again Welcome to my blog. I am new at this blog thing, so any ideas and tips you would like to share with me would be great. I am looking forward to swapping ideas and maybe seeds with other gardening folks.
In the mean time please enjoy your southern recipe for the day.
My daughter loves this recipe this is always a sure way to keep my college daughter home, for at least a little while!
Here is your recipe for the day and one of her favorites!I have made this several times for holidays or just family gatherings. Just don't worry about counting calories!
1 can of eagle brand milk
1 1/2 cup water 1 1/2 cup milk
1 large pkg vanilla instant pudding mix
1 tub of Cool Whip
3-4 ripe bananasGraham crackers crushed about two cups or you can use vanilla wafers.
Put condensed milk in bowl , add water and milk. Stir until smooth, add instant pudding, stir until smooth.
Set in fridge for 5 mins. Remove from fridge and add tub of cool whip and fold in. Layer with crushed graham crackers, banana's, and pudding in layers. Makes a large dish.
Of course planting seeds indoors can save you money, plus its fun for kids to watch something they planted grow.
Remember to start seeds at least 8-10 weeks before its time to plant outdoors, depending on what area of the country you live in. Egg crates are good to start plants in, just make sure you keep the soil moist like a cake.
Most of the time you can find inexpensive seeds at dollar stores or maybe a friend or family member has seeds dried from last year's garden they will share with you.
Here are some plants that are easy to start by seed indoors.
Annuals : Begonia, Black-eyed Susan, Impatients, Marigold, Petunia, Salvia.
Veggies : Peppers, Squash, Tomato.
Herbs: Basil , Dill, Coriander, Sage.
