Sleep Week 2014

Beat Daylight Savings
Time with #SleepWeek

Dreaded for its ability to throw dreamy sleep schedules into a nightmarish tizzy, Daylight Savings Time can leave parents feeling frazzled and helpless. (Sound familiar?) This year Zarbee's has your back with #SleepWeek 2014. We'll be sharing our favorite tips, tricks and creative solutions during the week leading up to Daylight Savings Time, and hosting a special Twitter party at 5 p.m. MT on March 9 featuring Dr. Zak answering YOUR sleep questions.

If you're having trouble getting your kids down for bed, you're not alone. It's one of the most common questions our founder Dr. Zak Zarbock hears at his practice. Consider adding these bedtime dos and don'ts to your parenting toolbox:

• Create a consistent bedtime routine: Children function best when they know what to expect. This bed time routine chart will help everyone stay on track.

• Make sleep-smart food choices: Caffeine, sugar and even an afternoon soda can create trouble when bedtime rolls around. Place limits on these sweets and snacks five hours prior to putting your child to sleep. I've designed the chart below to help you get started.

• Limit screen time before bed: Bright light can affect the body's melatonin production, making it difficult to feel sleepy. Cut off screen-time an hour before bed to help kids wind down.
