You wake up to a cool breeze coming in your window. Summer has come and gone and in comes the cool fall weather. It’s time for bonfires, camping, hikes and going to the apple farms.
Who doesn’t like warm homemade apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream plopped on top? It’s time to take a road trip to the north Georgia mountains! Here you can find applesauce, apple pie, apple butter, well apples! Apple season starts in September in north Georgia and here they have several you pick apple orchards to choose from.
So pack the car and head to north Georgia for a fall adventure and come back with apples galore to bake, can, and just eat and enjoy as the sweet apple juice runs down your arm. Here are a few places you may want to visit.
B. J. Reece Apple House – Here you can pick from various apple trees. You can choose from Braeburn, Golden and Red Delicious and Red Rome Beauty and more. If you have children they can have fun with an apple cannon and a petting farm. Of course, what would an apple farm be without an onsite bakery, here you can try breads, donuts and of course apple pie!
Hillcrest Orchards – Visit an onsite bakery and enjoy apple pie, apple fritters, and apple doughnuts. You can have fun at the Apple picking Jubilee where you can pick your own apples, milk a cow and watch swimming pig races. Hillcrest is also the home of the farmhouse museum and moonshine museum.
