Fall Roadtrip Apple Picking in Northern GA

Time to pick your Pumpkin

The leaves are starting to turn and soon it will be time for all Halloween goblins, princesses, witches and pumpkins to make their yearly appearance. There are many places you can take the family to during the month of September and October. You can choose from fall festivals with mazes and loads of sweets to choose from or you can go to a boiled shrimp festival.

In Alabama there is a little of everything. (https://www.funtober.com/festivals/alabama/).    Some of my favorites to go to is the "Pumpkin Patches", here you can take the family for a hay ride to the pumpkin patch and then choose which pumpkin you want to pick off the vine to decorate. Sometimes this can be difficult for younger ones. Once they get off the hay ride they can look and see pumpkins as far as a eye can see and of course you will need to look at almost all of them before you find just the right one, be sure to wear comfortable shoes that day, you may be walking a lot!

Most pumpkin patches open in mid September and October. We are lucky to have a few close by our house. You can visit the "Baker Farm", here you can have fun going through corn mazes, riding horse drawn carriages, riding hay rides to the pumpkin patch. Of course, there will be pumpkin pie and you can also enjoy the petting zoo.

If your a lover of old vintage trains, you can head to the "Heart of Dixie train museum", this year on October 7th, 2017, you can hop aboard the train and they will take you right to the pumpkin patch! It's a 1- 1/2  hour train trip to the patch and time at the patch.
Enjoy your fall pumpkin time with the family.
