Impossible Bacon Pie --Cooking is not totally impossible!

Do you remember when we were  all learning to cook, or if you were like me learning to cook after you got married.(22 years old)  Looking back now I wonder sometimes how I ever learned to cook. I messed up quite a few things, some were eible, but most were interesting! Especially the day I decided to bake a whole chicken. It was cheap, within my budget and it sounded easy. I made a couple of side dishes ( opened a couple of cans) and I was so proud. The chicken smelled divine, and as I went to pinch off a little bite, it tasted great, it was tender and moist. I sit down at the kitchen table beaming, thinking to myself  I can cook! I think you know where I am going with this story.Yes to my dismay with all my family gathered around me enjoying my fine dinner, I had left in the small package inside the chicken! Its really amazing that I ever wanted to cook again. Its not nice being picked on or called the chicken queen! I know my family loves me! Time went on and my fa...

Basil Pork Chops

tasteofhome.com I found this recipe on Taste of home. It was really good and very easy to make! 1/4 cup packed brown sugar 1-1/2 teaspoons dried basil 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 2 tablespoons canola oil, divided 4 boneless pork loin chops (1/2 inch thick and 4 ounces each) Directions: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, basil, salt and chili powder. Gradually stir in 1 tablespoon oil until crumbly. Rub over both sides of pork chops. In a large skillet, cook pork in remaining oil over medium heat for 7-8 minutes on each side or until juices run clear. Yield: 4 servings.

Homemade Washing Detergent!

With my hours still cut back at work, I decided to be very frugal! I went surfing on the internet on how to make my own washing detergent. My sister made some and it was nice not having to buy store bought detergent for the past three months! I found a wonderful recipe at thesimpledollar.com Please read below for the recipe! 1 bar of soap (whatever kind you like; I used dial, its what I had, remember I am being frugal!) - 1 box of washing soda (look for it in the laundry detergent aisle at your local department store - it comes in an Arm & Hammer box and will contain enough for six batches of this stuff) - 1 box of borax ( located in the laundry detergent aisle). - A five gallon bucket with a lid (I had one in the garage, my hubby the landscaper, it was a clean empty one he was saving in case we needed one!) - Three gallons of tap water - A big spoon to stir the mixture with - A measuring cup - A knife or grate Step One: Put about four cups of water into a pan on your stove and tur...
