Its Christmas in July!

Christmas in July!

For some reason in July I think of Christmas time. Christmas in July! This is the time when I find rich cookie recipes and wonderful gifts to make. I will cut out the ideas and recipes, fold them neatly and put them in a safe place so I will not lose them, but by December they are no where to be found!
So this year I am posting my ideas on my blog. Surely they can't get lost here!!

Gingerbread Cookie Mix

A simple idea for gifts. Make up several bags, make or buy some holiday cards (some can still be found now on clearance shelves) and write the recipe in red or green ink. Tie on some colorful ribbon and you have several gifts. You can place the mix in quart jars or zipper freezer bags. Be sure you attach recipe.( See below)

The Mix:

2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg

To Mix a Batch:
1/2 cup mollasses
1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup hot water

1. Mix the "mix" in a large bowl.
2. Place in a quart jar or zipper freezer bag. If you are going to give this as a gift, tie on ribbons and include a recipe card with the following mixing instructions:
3. Place mix in a large bowl. Add molasses, margarine and water. (On the card-tell them how

much -see above for mix a batch).

4. Mix with electric mixer until smooth. Refrigerate 2 hours.

Cut dough into quarters and work one quarter while keeping the rest refrigerated.

5. Roll out dough to 1/4 thickness on a floured board. Cut with Cookie cutters.

6. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 8-9 mins agt 375 . Cool and enjoy.
