Have you ever thought of making your own shampoo? While perusing the local thrift store, I came upon a book that had some great recipes in it. One of course, was Basic Shampoo #1
Yes I do know that with coupons you can score shampoo for free, but this activity could turn into a fun afternoon with friends and family! We all could stand some extra family bonding! I know I could!
BASIC SHAMPOO
This shampoo is a thin version. For hair that shines, apply just a dime's worth (no more than a quarter). A little goes a long way!
1/2 cup distilled water
1/2 cup castile liquid soap
1/4 teaspoon safflower or almond oil
Plastic squeeze bottle
Mix the ingredients together in a clean squeeze bottle or empty shampoo bottle. Shake well to combine.. Shampoo and rinse with cool water.
GrandMa's Favorite Conditioner
1/4 cup distilled water
1 table spoon unflavored gelatin
1 fresh egg yolk
2 table spoons fresh lemon juice
Warm the water in the microwave. Add gelatin and stir to dissolve. Remove from the stove.
Add the egg yolk and lemon. Mix well to combine
Wash and rinse your hair. Apply the conditioner and massage into hair and scalp. Leave on 2 minutes Rinse thoroughly
