PARADE ROAD TRIP

Trying to keep kids busy while on trips, always seems to be one single important thing on parent's minds. Many times, we make sure we have activities planned out for the children, more so than the family trip itself, but keeping the kids happy makes happy parents, which also makes a vacation more memorable.
Traveling with kids has its up's also. It's funny what kids will notice on a trip that would never occur to a parent.  Like for instance your child suddenly yells out, "Hey look out the window! Do you see the hot dogs"?   Of course, Mom and Dad are wondering what exactly the child is looking at or maybe he is simple reading a billboard on the road, but with much insistence your child finally convinces you to stop and look at the hot dogs! You have to laugh to yourself when you see the hot dogs, are plants sticking up out of the water. I can definitely see where he see's hot dogs, but it's going to be hard to explain that the plant is called a "cat tail". You can find them in the south growing in swampy wetlands. Which of course starts a new conversation. Now your child is asking, "So that is where a cat's tail comes from"? I will let you dwell upon that idea for a bit, said Dad. Let me know how you plan on explaining where a cat's tail comes from. I shake my head, this is going to be a challenge to try to explain to a toddler! As you can see, sometimes all the activities you plan for your kid is sometimes simply not needed.  Just an imagination of a 4-year-old can be all the activity you will need!
March is a month for windy, rainy weather and St. Patrick's Day. Let's head to the nation's capital, Washington, DC.  Here you will find many parades to attend in March.
This year the Washington D.C. 48th Annual St. Patrick's Parade will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 12:00 Noon, and will proceed down Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets, N.W., in the Nation's Capital.
This year's theme is "Showcasing DC Irish Culture". It will celebrate local Irish-American leaders who have been instrumental in the promotion Irish culture throughout the DMV area and become leaders in showcasing Washington's unique Irish heritage beyond the city.
Traveling with kids can be challenging, but it can also be a lot of fun. Just remember to let your child use his imagination instead of planning activities for them and I am sure your family will have the best road trip yet!
