Mail Call

My mail box was full of magazines today! I received Nylon and Body and Soul. I love getting new magazines. Especially when they are free. Besides if the weatherman is right for Alabama tonight, we will be waking up to 2-3 inches of snow in the early am. Sure this isnt much compared to the north, but here in the south we all run for the grocery store, when ice is predicted! The last snow here was about two years ago. I am ready for a snow day!

Did you know?

My hubby was sent this in email. Enjoy some really great tips! Bananas Peel from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little 'stringy things' off of it. That's how the primates do it. Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold! Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking. Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking. To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up. For a cool brownie treat , make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting. Add garlic immediatel...

This recipe is super easy with items you probably already have on hand. The wonderful part is the recipe only consist of 4 ingredients. Also a good recipe to cook with kids. My family loves it! Enjoy. Dump Cake 1 (20 oz) can of crushed pineapple ( do not drain) 1 can of cherry pie filling 1 box of yellow cake mix or white 2 sticks of butter cut in to pats Pre heat oven to 350. In a 13 x 9 pan, dump the crushed pineapple and cherry pie filling into the pan. Mix slightly with a spoon. Then sprinkle dry cake mix on the top of that. Spread pats of butter over the cake mix. Bake at 350 for about 45 mins or until top is brown. Enjoy!!

Peppermint Bath Salts

At Christmas my sisters and I decided to make gifts instead of buying. It was fun coming up with ideas. I gave Peppermint Bath Salts. Its relaxing in a bath and smells great. Peppermint Bath Salts 1 Bag of epsom salts Add a few drops of peppermint essential oils. ( 2-3 drops should be enough.) Pour about half the bag or all of it if you would like to a large bowl and add drops of peppermint. Mix well. Pour into canning jars or a clean mayo jars with caps. The idea is to use what jars and caps you already have on hand. This will make a lot of bath salts, even enough to share with friends. Add to bath water when you need to feel refreshed. If you want to spilt Epsom salts in two bowls and add red food coloring to one bowl and layer into a jar and you have candy stripes! Hey with St. Patricks day coming up, try green food coloring. Enjoy!

Recipe for Life

1 cup of Good Thoughts 1 cup of Consideration of others 3 cups of Forgiveness 2 cups of Sacrifice for others 1 cup of Kind Deeds 2 cups of Well beaten thoughts Mix this thoroughly and add tears of joy, sorrow and sympathy for others. Flavor with little gifts of love. Fold in 4 cups of prayer and raise the texture to great heights of Christian living. After pouring all this into your daily life, bake well with heat of human kindness. Serve with a smile. " Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday". My Dad gave me this cookbook in 1982, I have used it so often, the cover is no longer on it. I would love to give credit to who wrote this, but no name was listed. Inside the first page this recipe was written. I have tried to live by it and at times I can smile and I think about my Dad. He died a year later and this cookbook he bought for me at his work place has become very precious to me. Its tattered and worn and its covered with years of stains, but I still hold fond me...

Woman's Day

Mail day: I just received Woman's day magazine, a cook book from American heart association, Two free coupons for 2 Liters of Dr. Pepper. Its nice to be able to go to the mail box and get free presents! Although sometimes I get some snacks, but I dont always see them, but it depends on who gets to the mail box first my college daughter or Hubby. They do tell me that the snacks are good. She even liked the Soy Joy bar. You think this is why I am still waiting on my chocolate sample I ordered!

Walgreen deal

I went to Walgreens on Sunday and bought the Oust spray, on sale for 2.99 (1.00 wags rebate), after rebate 1.99. I was lucky, I had two buy one get one free coupons, so I was able to get 4 cans for 6.00 dollars, plus I am going to get 4 dollars back from wags rebates, so it only cost me 2.00 and tax. I am very new to all this and this was fun! I love saving money. Plus my hubby was happy too, he feels four cans may be enough to get rid of all the cold germs!! My daughter lucked up on finding Pringles marked down to .45cents each, with a coupon it was only .15 cents for two of them! Yep we will be eating Pringles for awhile, but we were nice enough to pass on our luck to another couple, who also left smiling with bag full of pringles.
